born in 1960 in Norway, lives in Bergen.
This artist has had for a long time an important place
in the world of Norway contemporary art.
Presence in the situation is fundamental to his work.
He tries to keep whatever else as open as possible
so as not to precondition the possibilities.
This is the starting point. At the same time, however,
he is concerned with finding situations that can
generate qualities he has not expereinced before.
He frequently minimizes to one image and then
create microcospic variations within the frames.
At other times the situation has more complex
implications, but remains within a poetical minimalist expression.
He mainly works with performances, installations and books.
The work are often related to place.
He figures a reality which escapes from any category because
of its relation with surrealist-dadaist tradition,
with absurd pictures or situations and with the unreal
juxtaposition of objects and events.
Thanks to poetic declaration, the strong visual and
esthetic aspect will pierce through the essential of his work.
