born in Japan, lives in Paris for ten years.
Her art is first of all a fight, an engagement,
synthesis of the chaotic vision of our time.
Her instalations and performances deals
with the exclusion-which she already
felt in the Japanese society she left and
with the identity of women in this world
where everythingl is oriented toward men kind.
Wether she invests herself as an homeless
inexperienced mama or as a young Japanese
girl- one coming from a high income family
and playing violin in a desastrous way, the other
one in the move yelling mangas and coming right
out of porno magazines- or as a "Ninja Girl",
a star, mix of the Ninja Turtle and of fearsome
warriors having in disgust paparazzi who assail
her with absurd questions, or may she invite
people to share the" folk soup" for the
audience of an evening,
Tsuneko Taniuchi exists in this narrow tension
between personal heritage and the context
in which she lives and work. Title: "Fast Food".
